Two thousand eighteen has been a busy year so far for Henley Kleweno. After being flattened in February, she visited her grandparents “G-Pa” and “Nanny” in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. This is where Henley’s mommy grew up. After a picture in the front yard with Pilot Mountain in the distance, Flat Henley made a quick trip to see her great-grandparents, “PaPaw” and “MaMaw”. They were surprised to see how flat she was!
Then in early March, Flat Henley took a road trip to Athens, Georgia to visit her other grandparents “Papa” and “Gigi”. They are Henley’s daddy’s parents. Many people know that Athens is home to the University of Georgia Bulldogs and their beloved mascot Uga. But what you might not know is that there are 50 bulldog statues all around town that were painted by local artists. Flat Henley and her grandparents visited a few during their stay. It was like a scavenger hunt, and so much fun!
Later in March, Flat Henley took to the skies with Aunt Ashley to travel via plane across the country to San Francisco, California. The pilots were very interested in how flat she was and insisted that they have a picture with her. The jump seat pilot heading back home also wanted a picture. Flat Henley was very excited to have her own seat and fly for the first time, but it was even more exciting to see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge when they finally arrived in San Francisco!
In the month of April, Flat Henley took a beach trip during her Spring Break! She and her family headed down to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Many people don’t know that the island of Hilton Head is actually in the shape of a foot! While there, Flat Henley visited the famous Harbour Town Lighthouse and even climbed all 114 steps to the top with Papa. Then she took a trolley ride on the super cute Sea Pines Trolley.
Finally, at the beginning of May, Flat Henley boarded yet another plane with Aunt Ashley. She ended up on Sanibel and Captiva Islands in Florida! After so much sightseeing earlier in the year, she needed a relaxing getaway. One day, Aunt Ashley met up with some of her girlfriends to go dolphin watching, and they even let Flat Henley drive the boat! But aside from that, she just relaxed and hung out by the pool all day, planning her next adventure. 😊
