Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are so thankful this year for too many reasons to name.

Gigi and Papa drove up from Georgia and our best friends Andy and Lisa came for dinner. We had a great spread of food...way more than we could ever eat. Henley especially enjoyed watching the parade on her first Thanksgiving and as always Macy enjoyed sampling the food. :-)

I hope everyone had a great holiday with friends or family. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy 2 Months

Henley is 2 months old today! Wow, how time flies. Henley is growing like crazy. We don't know exactly what she weighs, but we are pretty sure it is around 13 lbs now. She is smiling and laughing regularly. She is a pro at following moving objects with her eyes/head and has started to become very interested in her toys. She is doing really well holding her head steady now. I can carry her on my hip and she can support her head without me, but it does still wobble some. :-) She has also started trying to suck her hand. She hasn't quite found her thumb yet, but we figure it is only a matter of time before she does. She is sleeping 7-10 hours pretty much every night without waking up. We are so lucky! She is such a blessing and brings us so much joy. We thank God for her and are so happy she is part of our lives.

Henley's 2 month pictures are below. She is wearing Great Grandmother Kleweno's pearls that she gave to us for Henley before she died. I think Grandmother would smile if she could see Henley wearing them.

A smiling face

Henley is so cute in the mornings. Once she wakes up, if you talk to her and tell her good morning she gets the biggest smile and is just so happy. How can you not smile at that face? :-)

Busy Weekend

Things are slowly starting to feel "normal" around here. On Saturday night, we were able to have another nice dinner out. This time with our friends, Andy and Lisa. Andy's Mom was also in town from the Bahamas and we enjoyed getting to see her as well. That made dinner out both Friday and Saturday night!

On Sunday, we took Henley to church for the first time. We decided not to push our luck and attended just the service. She did great! They told us she didn't cry at all. We missed her but it was nice to be back at church again.

On Monday, April worked the afternoon shift so I took off to stay with Henley. While April was gone, Henley and I took a little trip to the courthouse to get her birth certificate. What a mess! Taking a baby through security is no fun. But we made it and Henley slept the whole way home.

I know it was so hard for April to start back at work and leave Henley. But she had a good day at work and I know everyone was glad to have her back. It is answered prayer that her healing has gone so well. She has come a long way in last 3 or 4 weeks.

Week 7 - Part 2

Henley has become quite the TV watcher. I know it is not good for her to start watching TV yet. But she gets so focused on all the colors and sounds, it is just neat to watch her. I think we are in for many hours of Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer.

April and I were able to enjoy another dinner out. Henley was an angel again. This time she slept almost the entire dinner. That makes two Friday nights in a row. Yea! You can't beat Wholly Guacamole. Another great night out with my girls!

We have big plans for the coming week. We hope to take Henley to church for the first time on Sunday. That will be the first time anyone other than April and I have kept Henley. I am sure it will be harder on us than her. It makes me sad just thinking about it. April is also starting back to work on Monday. She is going to do a few half days and work up to a full day later in the week. I am going to take some time off and keep Henley. It is shaping up to be a big week in the Kleweno house.

Henley and I watching TV...

And of course Macy had to be in the photo shoot :-)

Week 7 - Part 1

This past week Henley got to go shopping with April and me. We finally remembered to use the stroller instead of carrying her everywhere. She loved to ride around and watch everything. She is such a little sponge. Just absorbing everything.

She also has started to turn her head from side to side. She will look one way for a few seconds and then whip her head around and look the other direction. She will do this back and forth, back and forth. It is so funny to watch her as she learns.

Henley talking to us

I mentioned before that over the last week or so Henley has started trying to communicate more. We tried to capture a small example. Enjoy!

6 weeks

It so fun to watch Henley grow. This past week she became mesmerized by her hands. She would stare at them and move them all about. You could see her little mind turning like she was thinking, "Wow, look at these, are they mine?" So adorable. She is doing so well at holding her little head up too. It is exciting to see her strength progress.

We took a big step together on Friday. We had our first sit down dinner at a restaurant as a family. We went to Red Robin (my favorite). Henley sat next to us quiet and content the entire time. We thought she might fall asleep with all the noises but she just looked around watching and listening to everything. About the time we got the check she started to get fussy. But Mommy and Daddy were able to enjoy a nice meal and Henley was an angel baby.
