This past weekend Gigi and Papa came to visit. As normal, Gigi can't visit without spoiling Henley with new toys! She even bought Henley the infamous, Sophie the giraffe! Thank you, Gigi and Papa. Henley loves playing with her new toys.

Henley has been doing so good lately. Our nanny situation has worked out perfectly. You can just tell she is so much happier which of course makes us feel a lot better. She is starting to really like solid food. She loves every vegetable we put in front of her. Squash, peas, green beans - whatever, she devours them! She also has been doing great sleeping in her own bed. She still wakes up on occasion but nothing we can complain about. And she still is rolling over pretty much at will and has even started pushing herself up. It is only a matter of time before the crawling begins! I don't think I am ready for that yet, yikes!

5 Months

Our baby is 5 months old this week! I can't believe it. She is growing up so fast. 5 Months is just an awesome age. She is at this point in her development where her personality is starting to really shine through. She laughs and smiles at you. She will jabber and talk to you. She is doing really well sitting on her own. She can go minutes at a time sitting up without teetering if she doesn't get distracted. Over the past week, she has started rolling over back to front. And she is really good at it. I mean she will do it whenever she wants without any hesitation or struggle. It is crazy! She has also started eating vegetables this week. So far just Green Beans but she loves them. She would rather have the beans than rice or oatmeal. I can't believe my baby is already eating vegetables!

Happy 5 Month Birthday, Henley! We love you so much! You are such a part of our family. It has been an awesome 5 months and we can't wait to see what God has in store for you.

Happy Valentine's Day

I know I am late but Henley wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day. Isn't she just the cutest thing ever?

We had a pretty good week. Henley and I both have head colds. I don't know if I gave it to her or she gave it to me, but we both have the same thing. Still not a bad first full week for her sleeping in her own bed. She has been waking up a few times each night but normally falls back asleep pretty fast. I think it is partly to do with her cold and partly that she has started cutting teeth. It is just a matter of time before that first tooth cuts through. You can feel it starting to surface on her gums.

The other thing we have noticed is that she is now responding when you call her name. When I call her, she normally whips her head around to look at me. Maybe it is just the noise itself, but it doesn't seem to be a coincidence. It is pretty consistent.

She is also starting to play with her toys on her own. It is so fun to see her interact with the toys without us. You really start to see her personality shine!

More Firsts

We had more firsts again this past week.

Henley had her first week with our new nanny, Ms. Christy. She seemed to have a great time. Each day we picked her up she was happy and smiling. We hope things continue to go well.

Henley got her first taste of oatmeal this week. She has been doing great with the rice cereal. She loves it. So we thought we would try oatmeal next. She took the oatmeal, although her facial expressions told me she didn't like it quite as well as the rice. She does still love eating off a spoon like a big girl though. :-)

She also got her first taste of formula this week. As she has gotten older, it takes more and more milk to get her full. April is just not able to keep up with her. For the most part she is still on breast milk but we had to start supplementing with formula this week. I know April has tried really hard to wait as long as possible to start using formula. She has done so well and I am so proud of how committed she has been with it.

Finally, this past week Henley spent her first night in her own bed. For the past 4 months, she has been sleeping in our bedroom in a rocker/bassinet. She has been sleeping through the night for a while now, so we were hesitant to make the move. We knew it needed to be done sooner rather than later though. The first night started off well. She went down at 9:30 pm but woke up at 4 am and did not want to go back to sleep. Two long hours of crying later, she finally cried herself back to sleep. It was a long 2 hours for April and I. But we hung in there and she did eventually go back to sleep on her own. The second night was perfect. She went down at 9:30 pm and slept until 8 am! We don't know if it was a fluke or if she was just so tired from the night before. I guess time will tell.
